The historic home, known as “ROOFTREE” in the town of Washington, Connecticut has been preserved for the next century. The exterior and structural repairs are complete and the home that was built circa 1880s in the Queen Anne Shingle Style on the Washington Green by the physician, Dr. William J. Ford and his wife, Isabel (Brinsmade) Ford is ready to be completed to its original glory.
To preserve its architectural integrity, the original windows were restored, chimneys rebuilt, roof replaced, each porch was reconstructed from the ground up; the entire envelope was replaced with western red cedar shingles and clapboards and mahogany mouldings were custom cut -all to historical accuracy. Included in the restoration was extensive foundation repairs, the removal of an unsupported cantilevered addition at the second story along the driveway and the installation of concrete basement slab with a perimeter wall interior drainage system. **(This home is under renovation and being sold, "As Is’")
